In today’s era of digitization, everyone is well versed with the aspects of digital payments. PayTM, Google Pay, PhonePe and PayPal are some of the known digital payments interfaces. With the numerous benefits that they provide – ranging from the convenience in payments to quick and easy ways of accessing bank balances and getting consumer promotions in the form of scratch cards and promocodes – they also have their share of issues which users face on a daily basis. One such issue that we will be addressing here and providing the tips to handle this is the account addition option in Google Pay.
Of late, many users have been reported to have lost their account details on Google Pay and they have not been able to add their account thereafter. Here are a few methods by which the issue can be resolved.
- Uninstalling Google Pay app and then installing it: This is the traditional method which can help address this issue. After uninstalling and reinstalling it, follow these steps -
- Click on the ‘Add account’ option under the user photo of the app
- Select the bank where you have your account
- Let the Google Pay app verify your phone number by sending a text message
- Your account is added after the verification
- Close Account: For this, you need to follow these steps –
- Go to the Settings option in the app
- Under the heading of Privacy & Security, there will be an option to Close Account
- Then a popup will appear with the options ‘Cancel’ and ‘Close’
- Click on ‘Close’
- Then open the app again and enter all the necessary details and try adding your account
- Clear cache: For this, follow these steps –
- Go the Settings option of the phone
- Click on the option of Installed Apps
- Search Google Pay from the list of apps
- Click on clear data
- Then there will be three options: Clear all data, Clear cache, Cancel
- Click on Clear Cache
- Restart the phone
- Try adding account in the Google Pay app after entering your details
- Clear all data: For this, follow these steps –
- Go the Settings option of the phone
- Click on the option of Installed Apps
- Search Google Pay from the list of apps
- Click on clear data
- Then there will be three options: Clear all data, Clear cache, Cancel
- Click on Clear all data
- Restart the phone
- Try adding account in the Google Pay app after entering your details
- Help and Feedback: This is the last option to resort to if you are still unable to add an account. For this, follow these steps –
- Go to the Setting option in the app
- Under the Information tab, find Help and Feedback
- Click on ‘Contact’ option at the bottom of the screen
- A new window will open with the options: Describe your issue
- At the bottom of the window, there will be two options: ‘Chat’ and ‘Phone’
- Click on ‘Phone’ and a window will open titled ‘Request Callback’
- Describe your issue there and provide your phone number
- Submit it and the Google Pay Customer Care Centre will call back in half an hour
